This is Deidre's 24th year at Acwsalcta. As a Nuxalkmc, she is proud to be supporting our children. Special education has always been her passion, so this year it brings her great joy in working with staff and students as a special education coordinator as well as a continued speech and language therapist. Doris Muise

Doris Muise is from the Mi'kmaq nation in Newfoundland. She holds an M.A in Arts Education, and undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts and Education. She worked in several different provinces before coming to work at Acwsalcta School. When she is not teaching, she paints and writes, and drinks tea with her friends.

Shauna deGrace

Shauna deGrace grew up in Terrace BC.  She graduated from Simon Fraser in 2004 and moved to Bella Coola in 2005 to teach grade 5/6.  She has also taught grade 3, worked in Behaviour Management, and is now the High School Special Education teacher.  She loves working at Acwsalcta School and is so grateful that she was able to remain in Bella Coola and build a home and start her family.

Ximlaycana (Desirée Danielson)

Desiree Danielson is from Bella Coola, BC; she is the daughter of Barbara Saunders and Kent Danielson. She graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor Degree in English: Creative Writing, and received her Bachelor of Education from University of British Columbia in 2013. She is currently working on her Masters Degree in Literacy K-12. She has been working as the Grade 1 Teacher at Acwsalcta school for three years, and was a Learning Assistant for one year previously. Desiree enjoys running, playing the ukulele, and spending time with her dogs, when not spending time with the Nuxalk Nation's leaders of tomorrow as the Literacy Intervention Specialist.
