School Rules

BE SAFE.

BE ON TIME.

BE RESPECTFUL.

BE READY TO LEARN.

•  Students will be courteous, considerate and respectful to everyone, and to the buildings and grounds.

•  There is 'Zero Tolerance' for the following behaviours:

Student is caught with drugs at school.

Student is caught with alcohol at school.

Student is caught fighting at school.

Student is caught under the influence of a foreign substance at school.

Student is caught with a weapon or replica in their possession.

Student threatens a staff member or another student.

•  Each of these behaviours will result in an immediate out-of-school suspension. Length of suspension and return to school will depend on the student's subsequent behaviour and a meeting with parents, student and principal.

•  Students should avoid bring valuables to school. If necessary, they should give these items to their homeroom teacher for safe-keeping.

•  There is a lost and found box located at the front entrance to the school.

•  Text books and other school supplies are the property of Acwsalcta and should be returned at the end of the year in good condition (normal wear and tear is expected). Lost texts and excess wear or damage may require the book to be replaced, and the student and their family will absorb the cost.

•  Locks for lockers are supplied by the school at a cost of $3.00, deducted from the student allowance and refundable at the end of the year when the lock is returned.

•  Homework is expected at the approximate rate of 5 minutes per grade, e.g.

Grade 1 does 5 minutes each day, Grade 8 does 5 minutes x 8 = 40 minutes each day, etc.

•  Students are expected to dress appropriately for school. Inappropriate clothing will result in the student being asked to change or being sent home to change if gym strip is not available. Gym strip will be required by ALL students.

•  Students in grades 4 to 12 will receive school agendas, to record events and homework. Parents should sign to acknowledge that homework is done.

•  Medication should be dispensed by parents.

•  The school telephone is only for emergency situations.

•  For all inappropriate behaviors an EBS form will be filled out and filed.

•  During school hours, all students are expected to be in their classrooms. Hall passes are available in each classroom if students need to leave for a specific reason (i.e. washroom). Students who do not have a hall pass receive a 15 minute detention.

•  Students must have permission from their classroom teacher, the office and their parents before leaving the school grounds. Students who leave without permission receive an in-school suspension to be served the next day.
